Last Minute Opponent for Joy Goff-Marcil

Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As we look ahead to fall elections, I want to ensure you’re in the loop about the political landscape we’re facing. I recently picked up an opponent and need your help to make sure District 30 remains ours … continuing to move forward, not backward.

As your representative in the Republican-dominated Florida House, I’m often voting in the minority. My progressive colleagues and I do our best to advocate for Central Florida’s small businesses, public education, protecting our wetlands and the local rules that protect our environment. If we want to see Florida adopt sensible gun legislation in our lifetimes, we must vote for those who will listen to the people … not special interests.
When voters express concerns about these issues — as well as affordable housing, land conservation and restoration of rights — I believe our elected leaders should listen. And our nation’s struggle with coronavirus has shined a light on the desperate need for affordable healthcare, as well.

I’ve been disheartened to hear of the heavy burdens so many Floridians face due to coronavirus. Our state wasn’t prepared for this crisis and that is unacceptable. Decimated by budget cuts and ineffective restructuring, Florida’s unemployment department was understaffed and underfunded. The result is that hardworking Floridians aren’t getting the help they need — and that is shameful.
As your representative, I will continue to lend my voice and vote with reason, empathy and accountability, advocating for Florida to reopen our economy without compromising our citizens’ health and safety. Additionally, this crisis highlights my long-held belief that Central Florida’s economy must diversify to evolve past its over-reliance on tourism. As home to other high-tech, high-wage industries, both small and large, we must bring these voices to the table and help them thrive.

I hope you’ll share this post with your friends and neighbors in District 30and encourage them to vote for me on Nov. 3. This election will be a fight, but I am ready, undaunted and encouraged by your support. Click here to contribute and help us Keep Joy in the House.
Always sincerely,

Joy Goff-Marcil
