Rep. Joy Goff-Marcil Announces Run in Central Florida’s Senate District 10

Goff-Marcil launches campaign to fight for Central Florida values in the Florida Senate

Seminole County, Fla. – Battle-proven local leader and champion of Central Florida values in the Florida House, Representative Joy Goff-Marcil, has announced her candidacy for Senate District 10, consisting of Seminole and parts of Orange County.

“The people of Central Florida deserve to be represented by someone who will fight for the things that matter to everyday people in our community: good paying jobs, expanding access to health care, fully funding public schools, affordable workforce housing, and protecting and preserving our natural resources for generations to come,” said Joy, whose campaign will receive strong support from Senate Victory, the political fundraising organization acting on behalf of Florida’s Senate Democratic Caucus. “Central Florida has been my home for my whole life. I care deeply about making sure our community has a voice in Tallahassee so that working families, small business owners, and everyday people are being represented,” said Joy.

First elected to the Maitland City Council in 2013, Joy has never lost sight of what’s important to Central Floridians. She has been an effective force for Central Florida families in the Florida House by protecting our health care and working to expand medicaid, improving education outcomes for students and funding our public schools, fighting legislative overreach so decisions about what’s best for our communities are made at the local level, supporting job creation and the small businesses that are the backbone of our community.

Democrats have a lead in voter registration in the newly formed Senate District 10, which no longer includes the Republican stronghold of Volusia County.

About Joy:

An attorney and longtime resident of Maitland, Joy Goff-Marcil currently represents District 30 in the Florida House of Representatives. Joy got her start in public service after being elected to the Maitland City Council, where she earned the respect of her fellow council members who selected her as vice mayor. Joy has fought for Central Floridians’ local priorities and gotten results – standing up for health care, public schools, and the environment. Now, she’s running to

represent her neighbors in the Florida Senate – to defend home rule and fight for Democratic values in Tallahassee.
